Toxic Synovitis Hip
As the name indicates, the toxic synovitis of the hip is not related to a dangerous or poisonous condition. Mild symptoms are seen in this condition. One side of the hip becomes painful with a mild fever.
The primary symptoms of toxic synovitis of the hip are:
- Viral infection like cold
- Fever which is less than 101 degrees
- Difficulty to walk
- Hip pain and limping after a long time of sitting in a chair or car
- Knee pain without hip pain
- Hesitating to walk
-
- Crying continuously in the case of babies
Taking anti-inflammatory medicines will help to reduce the pain and discomfort. It is advisable to take necessary medication as per the prescription of a doctor. The child is required to take the medication for 3 to 4 weeks to get rid of the inflammation, pain and swelling.
It is important to give rest to the hip joint while taking medications. This will help in a speedy recovery from toxic synovitis. The child has to be encouraged to walk again after the treatment period.
