Winters are the most difficult season to manage especially people suffering from arthritis. According to various research studies 70% of arthritic patients are weather sensitive. Besides that it is observed that people suffering from osteoarthritis especially women are greatly affected due to climate change.
The main reason for worsen arthritis symptoms during winters is that cold temperatures causes muscles, tendons and ligaments around the joints to contract. This contraction of muscles increases the pressure on the joints, worsening your condition. Listed below are few tips to tackle arthritis during winter season:
- In case the outdoor temperature is freezing then it is advisable to stay indoors.
- If you want to go outside then it is important that you dress in layers. Instead of relying on single thermocot it is better to wear extra layer of thermals.
