Strenghtening Exercises For Arthritis

It is very important people with arthritis, exercise often. It is extremely beneficial for them. Two common strengthening exercises for people with arthritis are

Isometric: In these exercises, you tighten your muscles, but don’t move your joints. This helps build your muscles without moving the painful joints.

Isotonic: In these exercises, you strengthen muscles by moving your joints. For example, when you press your knee toward the floor, you are doing an isotonic exercise to strengthen your thigh muscle.

Endurance:Endurance exercises are physical activities that bring your heart rate up to your optimal target level for at least twenty to thirty minutes. These exercises help one feel better. As the name suggests they increase levels of endurance. Endurance exercises help patients suffering from arthritis

1.Increase their  physical strength

2.Develop a better mental attitude 

3. Bring about Relief

However, endurance exercises are not meant for every patient suffering from arthritis. For example, patients with long-term rheumatoid arthritis and left with functional limitations will be unable to do this type of activity. People suffering from extreme degree of arthritis should avoid doing these exercises in order to avoid injury.

It is essential that one do these exercises daily or every other day. On days when there is lot of pain or swelling, do not exercise or may be reduce the extent of exercise time. Ask your therapist or doctor about ways to do this.
