Apitherapy for Athritis

Posted on August 6, 2007 in Latest News

Usage of Apitherapy or honeybee products to prevent, heal or recover from a disease dates back to ancient times. Proponents have defined it as “the Art and Science of Treatment and Holistic Healing through the honeybee and her products for the benefit of Mankind and all the Animal Kingdom.” Hippocrates (460-377 B.C) is also believed to have written about giving bee stings for painful joints.

During the first half of 20th century, bee-venom therapy was used to treat arthritis. Hospital pharmacies used to store bee-venom for injections. They believed that this therapy can alleviate the pain of tendonitis, arthritis, multiple sclerosis and post herpetic neuralgia.

However, doctors in present context consider this approach very unscientific and have no rational base. Therefore many countries have banned this kind of therapy.
